South Florida Cheek Augmentation

The ENDOTINE Cheek Lift is a new approach that gives Dr. Yalamanchi the ability to easily restore sagging cheek volume to its natural position. This new approach features the ENDOTINE Midface device, which has five small tissue holders, or tines, to grasp the cheek tissue gently, but securely and elevate it (and all overlying cheek tissue layers) to a new position. In this way, it can reduce the skin irregularities and dimpling that commonly occur when sutures are used. The tines also distribute the tissue forces evently, minimizing the chance of surgical failure and possible injury caused by sutures.

If your cheeks are sagging or have flattened over the years, if you’re lower eyelids are puffy with dark circles or have hollowed out, or if your smile lines have deepened, you’re probably a good candidate for a midface suspension. It typically takes 30 to 60 days for the tissue to re-attach to the bones. Once implanted the device gradually absorbs until it is completely gone. This is an improvement over non-absorbable sutures, which remain permanently implanted long after they are no longer needed for fixation.

CHIN IMPLANTS

Aesthetic chin augmentation, or genioplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape or increase the size of the chin for better projection and appearance. It can balance the profile by extending the chin in relationship to the nose. Reconstructive genioplasty can be performed in conjunction with jaw surgery to correct bite dysfunction.

A consultation with Dr. Yalamanchi is the first step you should take if considering genioplasty. You should discuss candidly your expectation about looking and feeling better after surgery, while keeping in mind that the desired result is improvement, not perfection. After examining you, Dr. Yalamanchi will discuss the variables that influence the desicisions involved in the procedure, such as the length, width and symmetry of the chin, and the degree of projection desired. Patients with a normal dental bite, but weak or receding chins, are the best candidates for genioplasty.

There are two basic approaches to genioplasty. In some cases it may be best to move the chin bone. In this technique, Dr. Yalamanchi makes an incision inside the mouth to gain access to the chin bone. Using a special instrument, Dr. Yalamanchi makes a horizontal cut through the bone. The lower portion of the separated bone is moved forward and wired in position. The incision in the mouth is closed with sutures and an external pressure dressing generally placed over the chin. Since surgery is performed through an internal incision, the patient has no visible scarring.

Genioplasty usually is performed under local anesthesia which numbs the area around the chin. However, when it is done in conjunction with another procedure, general anesthesia may be used. If a general anesthetic is administrated, you will sleep through the entire operation.
